Joel Gelfand has worked as an independent photojournalist in Southern California for almost 35 years.
He has done extensive freelance work for major news outlets such as The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Associated Press, The Los Angeles Times and other major news outlets in California, Nevada and Arizona.
For almost 25, years Joel has worked as a volunteer photographer for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. He has also contributed to the West Covina (CA) and Phoenix (AZ) Fire Departments.
From 1981 - 1983 Joel had the interesting, and always fun, position of "Staff Photographer" at rogue L.A. radio station KROQ with occassional gigs at the late, great KMET 94.7 as well.
Joel has worked as a motorsports photojournalist specializing in NHRA Drag Racing for over 27 years. He's shot for almost every publication covering the sport as well as many teams and sponsors.
